More is not always better in oil pricing

I had a supplier quotation based on a volume of 77,000 litres. In reality the order had grown beyond my wildest guess. I went back and asked about 200,000 litres and his quote went UP by 1p/litre. I wrote about it in the forum here - More is not always cheaper

Now Twenty One

Happy New Year!

At the start of the new decade we list twenty-one (21 woot!!) oil syndicates.

In fact there are many more that I have heard of, but seem to be unable to actually communicate with. What's that about? Surely if you run a public service you would *want* people to be able to get intouch? Seems not!

There are a few too shy to be listed. They may be concerned that they will be deluged with applicants. Sadly it does not work that way. We seem to have to work hard to get the message out.

Secondly - also (well almost) for the start of the new decade I have opened a set of forums on the site. There are spaces to talk about the group you belong to, the group you manage, to discuss the engineers who help you and the equipment they install and service.

Go for it!

And now there are thirteen - Ooops

Vanessa stung me into action with her comment here so I did a count. It turns out that I got to hear about a number of groups through direct email or other referrals. Now I list thirteen in the database. Do check out the exciting map on the directory page. Enter your postcode and get a cute google map (thanks google) showing the nearest schemes and the (as the crow flies) distance estimate. With only thirteen schemes (that I know about) covering the whole of the UK you may have to zoom out a bit to see the map markers.

A great reason to all pile in and tell me about schemes I don't know about. - HINT!

We have four Cheap Oil Buying Schemes listed on the site

It's a gradual growth - but it is there. I have had a lot of interesting phone calls with folk I would otherwise never have talked to. Keep them coming.

All the Discount Oil Buying Syndicates in a central place

I'd like there to be a single, central, resource that oil buyers can use to find a group buying scheme close to where they live.

Here it is!

If you run a scheme then leave a comment on the blog and I will enter your scheme to the directory page. I need to know the name of your scheme, a post code that's reasonably close to the centre of your scheme area. It does not have to be the postcode of any real member of the scheme. I also need how to contact your scheme. You might want to be careful about leaving any too personal information on a public blog. Maybe just a slightly disguised email address like - bill at somewhere dot com. If you change your email address as frequently as you change your socks, then choose something reasonably stable as your contact information.

Party On!
